Sofia joined TenderWomens because her sister dared her to. Omar joined because his colleagues would not stop talking about it. Neither expected anything.
"I had a very cynical profile," Sofia admits. "It basically said — I am here by accident, prove me wrong."
Omar's opening message was: "Challenge accepted."
Two months of long messages, voice notes, then calls that ran until sunrise Buenos Aires time. Omar is a structural engineer. Sofia is a documentary filmmaker. They discovered they had both been in Istanbul in the same week two years before they matched — and had almost certainly walked past each other.
"We lost two years," Omar says, only half-joking.
They are being married in Istanbul in October. The venue is walking distance from where they probably first almost met.
